MMFF completes 8 official movie entries
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 20) — The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) announced the four other entries that will complete its eight-movie lineup this year.
The latest entries, which are in finished film formats already, are the following:
- "Deleter" by Viva Communications, Inc.
- "Family Matters" by Cineko Productions, Inc.
- "Mamasapano Now It Can Be Told" by Borracho Film Production
- "My Father, Myself" by 3:16 Media Network
The organizers unveiled the initial four entries back in July, which were selected based on script submission. They are as follows:
- "Labyu with an Accent" by ABS-CBN Film Productions
- "Nananahimik ang Gabi" by Rein Entertainment Productions
- "Partners in Crime" by ABS-CBN Film Productions
- "The Teacher" by TEN17P
From the 22 films submitted, MMFF organizers said the Selection Committee, headed by actress Boots Anson Roa Rodrigo, chose the Top 8 based on the following criteria — artistic excellence (40%), commercial appeal (40%), Filipino cultural sensibility (10%), and global appeal (10%).
For his part, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and MMFF concurrent acting chairman Carlo Dimayuga III urged moviegoers to support the festival.
"Let us watch the MMFF in theaters once more. We are happy with the list of entries, which has a wide mix of genres. We are excited and looking forward to MMFF 2022 becoming a success," he said.
Promotional efforts can now start, the organizers said, which will be highlighted by the Parade of Stars to be hosted by the local government of Quezon City.
The film festival will run from Christmas Day to Jan. 7 next year, while the Gabi ng Parangal is slated on Dec. 27.
