Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 23) - Veteran broadcaster Doris Bigornia will undergo open heart surgery after suffering a heart attack over the weekend, her colleagues at ABS-CBN confirmed.

Fellow ABS-CBN reporter Alwin Elchico made the announcement, with permission from Bigornia’s family, during his radio show on Tuesday night.

[Translation: She had a heart attack last Sunday, before Monday. She was rushed to the hospital and now she’s in the ICU. She will be needing an open heart surgery. So her family is asking for your prayers.]

ABS-CBN showbiz reporter MJ Felipe also confirmed Bigornia’s situation on Twitter.
