Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 27) — Another celebrity has joined the ranks of military reservists, this time with the Philippine Navy.

In a post on Instagram, actress Marian Rivera shared photos of her husband, actor Dingdong Dantes, receiving his rank of Lieutenant Commander.

"Super proud of you my husband... Salute!" Rivera said in the caption.

The Philippine Navy also mentioned Dantes' new rank in a release Sunday about the 2,500 relief packs donated to Taal evacuees by Yes Pinoy Foundation, which the actor heads.

The Navy has not released details of Dantes' role as a reservist.

Dantes is not the first celebrity to take on a role with a branch of the military. In 2019, Matteo Guidicelli became the first civilian to graduate from Army Scout Ranger training with the rank of Army reserve 2nd lieutenant.

In the same year, actors Gerald Anderson, Elmo Magalona, Yves Flores, Jerome Ponce, and Nash Aguas, were conferred the rank of private following a rigorous three-day Scout Ranger training course.
