Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 1) — Megastar Sharon Cuneta dismissed President Rodrigo Duterte’s claim that she wants her husband, opposition Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, out of their home.

Tatay (Duterte) likes to joke sometimes, as you all know, because Kiko’s in the opposition. He has joked a few times against Kiko and about me in the past!” Cuneta wrote on her Facebook page.

She added that she was “shocked” to learn that Duterte said this about her and Pangilinan, adding that she has not been able to see or speak to the President since before the campaign of his brother, who ran for Pasay City mayor in the midterm polls.

“I don’t know where this is coming from, honestly. If my husband and I separate, you’ll hear it from me! I don’t think anyone expects an announcement of this sort from the President of their country!” Cuneta said.

She added, “My stress comes from other people and things, but right now my family and marriage have never been happier!”

Cuneta also posted a video of her on their family farm, showing Pangilinan and singer and actress Zsa Zsa Padilla.

On Twitter, the senator and the megastar’s daughter, Frankie, posted a photo of the two cozied up together.

In a speech during Bonifacio Day rites, Duterte again attacked Pangilinan, claiming Cuneta wants him out of their home. He swore that his claim is true, vowing to resign if it is proven that he was lying.

“When he resigns, you’re welcome,” Frankie said.

Even if her husband is a leader of the opposition party, Cuneta has admitted having close links with the Duterte family, having been friends with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte since 2012.

The megastar had said that she is blessed that she and Sara are “sincere and thoughtful enough” to separate politics from their friendship.

Cuneta had also dined with the President in Malacañang in 2018.
