Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 21) — Who knew slippers could be so incredible?

On Saturday, American actor Mark Ruffalo, who portrays the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, posted a photo on his Facebook page showing an action figure of the green "Avenger" made of slippers.

"Believe it or not, this #Hulk doll is made out of recycled tsinelas (that's Tagalog for flip-flops)," Ruffalo said, "Not only is this inventively creative, but it's sustainable and just pure awesome! Thank you Elmer!"

The post has so far drawn more than 13,000 reactions, and 1,700 shares.

Filipino toy artist Elmer Padilla, a Samar-born construction worker based in Cavite, was the man behind the craft.

On his Instagram page, the 30-year-old artist revealed he also made a toy version of Thor, who will be featured in the upcoming film "Thor: Ragnarok" with the Hulk.

The artist had also created action figures of other Marvel superheroes Deadpool and Wolverine.

Padilla made waves on social media when netizen Adrian Soriano Bernabe in September posted his works on the Facebook page "GUHIT Pinas," earning him praises from other netizens.

The post has earned 11,000 reactions and 5,000 shares.
