Future Ready: Wilcon reveals secret to 45 years in business
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Every company has a story. For home improvement and construction retailer Wilcon Depot Inc., its humble beginnings as a family business making an effort to serve the community is the core that led the company to its achievements.
Wilcon Depot started out as a 60-square-meter hardware shop along Quezon Avenue. It was founded by its Chairman Emeritus William Belo. After more than four decades, the retailer now has almost a hundred stores nationwide.

“In Wilcon, we have some sort of commitment with our Filipino home owners, contractors or developers. We assure them that we will supply them with the best products — world class products — at very reasonable prices,” Belo said.
“Wilcon, as a customer-centric company, has constantly evolved and improved. We always make constant effort in earning the loyalty of the customers,” he added.
Wilcon Depot Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rosemarie Bosch-Ong said the company shows the customers that it is loyal to them.
“We really value the relationship and from the very start, we’ve always put the customers in mind. We make sure that we are in tune with what the customer needs and wants,” she added.

Wilcon Depot also takes pride in taking care of its employees, and it believes that they are the company’s top assets.
Grace Tiong, Wilcon Depot’s Senior Executive Vice President for Human Resources, said the company’s training program is precise in communicating its vision and mission.
“We make Wilcon a company that gives our employees a sense of purpose, essentially making Wilcon a better place to work. It feels great seeing many exceptional and talented employees stay in our company,” she added.

Wilcon also continues to provide for those in need, offering scholarships to deserving children of some employees through its foundation. The company is also involved in other activities such as tree planting and fundraising projects for local communities.
“It’s really with great pride that we get to say Wilcon is already 45 years in the business. Not a lot of companies survive 45 years and still strive. We’ve definitely come far these last 45 years. I know there’s still miles to go but this anniversary is really our time to celebrate,” Wilcon President and Chief Executive Officer Lorraine Belo-Cincochan said.
Belo-Cincochan said that as Wilcon continues to grow and expand its services and products, it will double its efforts to ensure that it will continue to revolutionize and make an impact in the country’s retail industry.
