Manila to impose liquor ban during 2023 Bar exams
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 15) — The local government of Manila has issued an executive order implementing a liquor ban in the city for the upcoming Bar examinations.
The exams will be held on Sept. 14, 20, and 24.
The San Beda University and the University of Santo Tomas in Manila are among the 14 testing centers nationwide.
Under Executive Order No. 24 signed by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, the liquor ban covers the 500-meter radius of the two universities on the following dates and times:
a. Midnight of Sept. 16 up to 10 p.m. of Sept. 17
b. Midnight of Sept. 19 up to 10 p.m. of Sept. 20
c. Midnight of Sept. 23 up to 10 p.m. of Sept. 24
The executive order also prohibits ambulant vendors near the area of the two testing sites on the following dates:
a. Midnight of Sept. 16 up to midnight of Sept. 18
b. Midnight of Sept. 19 up to midnight of Sept. 21
c. Midnight of Sept. 23 up to midnight of Sept. 25
The local government unit also bans the use of loud sound systems and other disruptive activities during those dates and times.
The Supreme Court said 10,816 aspiring lawyers will take the examinations.
