Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 1) — The rider involved in a recent road rage in Makati City has voluntarily surrendered, the Southern Police District (SPD) announced Friday.

PBGen Roderick Mariano, director of SPD, said in a statement that Angelito Rencio, an alleged member of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP), surrendered Thursday evening at the Makati City Police Station.

"Upon awareness of the complaints filed against him, Rencio voluntarily surrendered himself to the SPD," Mariano said. "He sought to shed light on the complaint filed against him and to ensure his safety."

Rencio is currently under the custody of the Makati City Police Station, he added.

In a separate statement, SPD found that Rencio presented fake identification cards (IDs) of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines all under his name.

Additional set of charges were filed against him. Investigator-On-Case (IOC) took him into custody for violating R.A. 493 (An Act to prohibit the use or conferring of military or naval grades or titles by or upon persons not in the service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines or the Philippine Constabulary, to regulate the wearing, use, manufacture and sale of insignias, decorations and medals, badges, patches and identification cards prescribed for the said Armed Forces or Constabulary, and for other purposes) and Art. 172 of RPC (Falsification of Public Documents).

He also faced complaints on Wednesday for violating R.A 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), Art. 177 (Usurpation of Authority), and Art. 151 (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority) of the Revised Penal Code.

The complaints were filed at the Makati City Prosecutor's Office. He was issued a Warrant of Arrest for Qualified Theft.

The road rage happened along Osmeña Highway in Brgy. Pio Del Pilar, Makati City on Aug. 25.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed Wednesday the involvement of Rencio and SSgt. Marsan Dolipas, a police officer from Pasay City.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mariano said the SPD and Makati City Police are already conducting an investigation pending the filing of administrative cases against SSgt. Dolipas.
