Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 1) --- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has appointed PBGen. Redrico Maranan as the new acting commander of the Quezon City Police District following the courtesy resignation of PBGen. Nicolas Torre III.

Maranan was the former PNP Public Information Office chief. With his new designation, PNP spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo will now takeover the office in an acting capacity.

Their designation were effective as of August 31, according to a copy of a PNP headquarters' order released to the media on Friday.

Torre previously resigned from his post after receiving flak for holding a press conference with a former police officer who was involved in a viral road rage video.
