Magnitude 5.5 quake jolts Balut Island in Davao Occidental
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 29) — A magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook the municipality of Sarangani in Davao Occidental, state seismologists reported early Tuesday.
In an advisory, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor struck at 1:29 a.m. 214 kilometers southeast of Balut Island, and had a depth of 15 kilometers.
The agency warned that aftershocks are expected.
Intensity one was felt in Tupi in South Cotabato, and in the municipalities of Malungon and Kiamba in Sarangani province, according to Phivolcs.
