Another teenager killed by police in Rizal
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 26) — Not even a month after the death of Jemboy Baltazar in Navotas, another teenager was killed by police on Aug. 20, this time in Rodriguez, Rizal.
In a statement, the Rizal Police Provincial Office said the incident that led to the death of 15-year-old John Francis Ompad happened at midnight in Barangay San Isidro.
The victim's brother, John Ace Ompad, was on his way home riding a motorcycle when two individuals attempted to flag him down.
"John Ace refused, took off his helmet, and threw it at the suspect. At that moment, one of the suspects drew an unknown firearm and fired a shot in the direction of John Ace," the statement read.
"Unfortunately, John Francis, who emerged from their house, was accidentally hit in the abdomen," it added.
Ompad was rushed to a hospital but died while undergoing treatment.
Rizal police ruled the incident as "isolated."
