DepEd: Over 16 million learners enrolled so far for SY 2023-2024
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 21) — The Department of Education on Monday said over 16 million learners have enrolled for the upcoming school year, the biggest number coming from Calabarzon at over 2.8 million enrollees.
The total number includes enrollees from public, private, local universities and colleges, and state universities and colleges.
"Pinakamarami ang nakapagpatala sa Region IV-A na umabot sa 2,858,606, sinusundan ito ng NCR (2,220,470) at Region III (1,868,161)," DepEd said on their Facebook page.
[Translation: The highest number was logged in Region IV-A reaching 2,858,606, followed by NCR (2,220,470) and Region III (1,868,161).]
The agency earlier said they expected around 28 million students to enroll.
DepEd said enrollment will continue until Aug. 26, and classes in all public schools will start on Aug. 29. Meanwhile, private schools may choose to start classes "not later than the last day of August," pursuant to Republic Act 11480, the DepEd said.
