Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 7) — The Bureau of Corrections clarified on Wednesday that visitation at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) maximum security compound in Muntinlupa City has not been suspended.

This came three days after it announced without explanation that visits will be suspended until June 9.

"Ang dalaw po ay patuloy na isinasagawa sa patnubay ng mga nakatakdang araw at oras ng pagbisita sa loob ng NBP-MaxSeCom," it said in a Facebook post.

[Translation: Visitations are ongoing during specified dates and times inside the NBP-MaxSeCom.]

Bucor also apologized for Saturday's announcement about the suspension of visits. It asked for the public's understanding, but did not elaborate.

BuCor previously suspended visits to inmates in the NBP and Correctional Institution for Women due to COVID-19 infections among detainees and personnel.
