Romblon town suspends classes, work due to aftershocks
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 20) — Classes and work in Odiongan, Romblon were suspended on Saturday due to the continuous aftershocks from a 4.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the province in the morning.
“I hereby suspend classes and work in public and private sector, today, May 20, 2023, Saturday, effective immediately, due to the continued occurrence of aftershocks from an earthquake of 4.8 magnitude,” Odiongan Mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic said in a Facebook post.
An executive order will soon be released, the mayor added.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the earthquake of tectonic origin struck at 8:40 a.m.
The epicenter was located 14 kilometers east of Odiongan, with a depth of 4 kilometers.

Intensity I - Ibajay and Malinao, Aklan
The Odiongan Public Information Office posted emergency hotlines on Facebook following the earthquake.
