Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 26) — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday raised the crisis status in Sudan to Alert Level 3 due to the ongoing conflict in the country.

"In this regard, the public is assured that the Philippine Embassy in Cairo is continuously monitoring the situation while providing repatriation assistance to Filipinos in Sudan," the department said in its announcement.

Under the alert level, voluntary repatriation and evacuation of Filipinos will be implemented.

The DFA earlier announced that more than 300 more Filipinos in violence-stricken Sudan are being evacuated amid the ongoing ceasefire.

Warring factions in Sudan recently agreed to a three-day ceasefire that began at midnight on April 24.

The agreement between the Sudanese Armed Forces, or SAF, and the Rapid Support Forces, or RSF, came "following intense negotiation over the past 48 hours."

Despite the truce, Filipinos in Sudan were advised to stay home as gunfire and bombings persist in nearby areas, the Philippine Embassy in Egypt announced last week.
