Duterte condoles with British royal family on Prince Philip's death
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 9) – President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his grief over the passing of Prince Philip, husband of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II.
"The Philippines and the United Kingdom have strong bilateral ties and we share the grief of the British people in this period of bereavement," the President said in a statement.
Duterte extended his condolences to Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family on the death of Prince Philip, who died at the age of 99.
The Buckingham Palace announced Friday the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh.
"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle," the Palace said in a statement.
