Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 9) — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday condemned a reported photo of a dog with a campaign sticker placed on its body.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez reposted a photo on his Twitter account showing a campaign sticker of a Metro Manila mayoralty candidate stuck on a dog and slammed it as harassment.

"Seriously. Isn't it enough that politicking has already trashed the country you claim to love, you've got to harass dogs too? Leave. Dogs. Alone," he tweeted.

In a text message to CNN Philippines, Jimenez said they are not planning to take action or issue sanctions against the candidate.

"It seemed to be an isolated case, and not part of a broader campaign strategy," he explained.
