Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — This sprawling facility in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, belongs to the bus company Jam Liner. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is renting it for roughly P69 million.

About half of the 97,000 machines are already here and according to Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista, the rest will be shipped by the end of the month. Several thousand are currently held by the Customs bureau but Bautista said they will be released soon.

He added, members of the media will be allowed to view the machines next week. For now, all he showed was the plastic bins that will serve as ballot boxes.

The Comelec is paying the supplier Smartmatic roughly P8 billion for the lease of the machines.
