LJ Reyes now engaged to non-showbiz partner

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 30) — Actress LJ Reyes surprised the public on Tuesday by sharing news of her engagement with her non-showbiz partner.

The "StarStruck" alumna posted a series of photos on her Instagram account tagging her boyfriend Philip Evangelista. It shows her partner down on his knees, presenting what seems to be an engagement ring to her. The subsequent photos show the couple embracing happily.

She quoted a Bible verse in the caption, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Her post was filled with congratulatory messages from her celebrity friends and her fans, who were happy she finally found love after going through breakups.

“Awwww #happiness,” Marian Rivera wrote.

“Maaaaars!!!! So so happy for you!!!! Kaya ka pala nananahimik dyan ah [that's why you've been lying low] !!!!” Camille Prats commented.

Melissa Ricks said, "amen!!! God truly is good! He has better plans for us than we have for ourselves!!"

Several netizens also expressed their joy that Reyes is finally writing her "happily ever after." This was after being hurt in her previous relationships.

Reyes moved abroad in 2021 following her public and messy breakup with actor Paolo Contis, who was her partner of six years and the father of her daughter Summer. She also has a son with her former boyfriend, actor Paulo Avelino.
