Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 22) — Hollywood actress Vanessa Hudgens will dig deeper into her Filipino roots as she is set to star in a new documentary that will feature her mother's homeland.

Hudgens — best known for her roles in Disney hit "High School Musical," romantic comedy film "The Princess Switch," and Oscar-nominated musical movie "Tick, Tick…Boom!" — will shoot the much-awaited project in Manila and Palawan later this month.

This will be Hudgens' first trip to the Philippines.

"I feel like ours is such a relatable story to so many women all over the world," Hudgens said in a press statement. "The more that we can share, the more we can lift each other up."

Produced by TEN17P and directed by Paul Soriano, the documentary will showcase Hudgens' relationship with her Filipino mom Gina and sister Stella.

It will likewise highlight her journey as a Filipino American actress who made her mark in the competitive Hollywood stage.

Hudgens has also starred in a number of notable projects, including "Spring Breakers," "Gimme Shelter," and "The Knight Before Christmas."
