Parokya ni Edgar's Gab Chee Kee now out of hospital
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 11) — Parokya ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee has been discharged from the hospital after two months, the band's frontman Chito Miranda shared the good news on Friday.
In an Instagram post, Miranda said their bandmate will now continue battling cancer at home. He also thanked everyone who helped Chee Kee.
"After 2 months in the hospital due to pneumonia (more than a month dun, intubated sa ICU), and after several major and minor operations dealing with complications brought about by his condition, sa wakas...pinauwi na si Gab sa bahay nila (finally, Gab was allowed to go home)," the singer said. "Dahil sa tulong ninyo, he survived (Because of your help, he survived)."
Chee Kee was diagnosed with lymphoma late last year and has been undergoing chemotherapy.
His bandmates held an auction of some items, including an Eraserheads-signed guitar that was sold for ₱1.3 million, and some props and costumes from their past music videos to support his hospital expenses.
"Many years from now, when me and my bandmates are old and gray, babalik balikan namin nila Gab yung kwento about how he fought and survived cancer (we will look back at how Gab fought and survived cancer), and how everyone helped out...and it will always be one hell of an inspirational story," Miranda said.
